From the Beast from the East to last years’ Summer heatwave, the weather in the UK can reach extremes at both ends of the spectrum. But what effect does this have on retail, and specifically home improvement stores? With a substantial store footprint, B&Q are usually first port-of-call for everything home and garden related. When the sun shines, shoppers visit in their thousands to buy the latest BBQ and garden tools, yet when temperatures drop, footfall declines as shoppers stay indoors. Our previous tactics to take advantage of these weather responses employed costly 3rd party solutions (e.g. TVTY), so we took it upon ourselves to innovate a more efficient strategy.
